How To Cross Over an SFP Optical Cable
In this video I am showing how to cross over an SFP fibre optic cable, when you are trying to connect two switches together. These SFP cables are normally used when you want to connect an ethernet switch, to a fibre optic modem or fibre channel card, but you will also find that there are times when you will want to connect two switches together, through a fibre optic patch panel. If you use the standard fibre optic cables, then they are put together in a way that does not give you a link if you try to connect two switches together. It looks as if they are purposely put together in a way, so that the plugs can be swapped around if you do not get a link from the current way they are. I do not show the physical process of how to remove the plugs from the holder, because it is quite easy and it looks as if these cables have been designed to be reconfigured.
