This is just a quick recording that shows how badly the fan vents of a laptop can get it they are not cleaned out for a long while. When I first turned on this laptop, it would run for a short time and then juzt turn off immediately. I even tried just running it in the BIOS, but it was still doing the same thing, so I knsw that I had to open it up in order to see what wzs the problem. One thing that you have to watch out for on the cheaper laptops, is that the manufacturers will purposley put the fans underneath the motherboard and there will not be an access channel to the fan, like you will get on some of the more expesive laptops, so this then makes it hard to get the fan out. I suppose that the manufacturers are hoping that the people who like to buy the cheaper laptkps, will use them on the floor or near their pets, so that the fan will quickly get clogged up and they will then have to have the laptop almost completely taken apart, so that the fan can be removed and then cleaned out.
Once I had taken the laptop apart and cleaned out the fan, then also cleaned off the old heat sink paste from the CPU and GPU. I added some now paste on, then put the laptop back together and it would then boot up, install windows and even run the fishtank demo from webglsamples.org.
